Weekend Training Opportunity Coming Soon
Can't find time to attend educational programming during the week? MTA brings you great educational and networking opportunities over the weekend. Sign up for the entire program or choose the sessions that interest you most. Attend this event and earn up to 16 Foundations and Boardsmanship credits in MTA's Township Governance Academy (TGA) over two days in one convenient location. MTA Conference Offers Multiple TGA Credit Opportunities
Earn 8 Elective credits in the Township Governance Academy (TGA) simply by attending MTA's Annual Educational Conference held January 28-30, 2009 in Detroit at the Marriott Renaissance Center. Register to attend the pre-Conference track, held Tuesday, January 27 to earn up to 8 Boardsmanship credits. Courses include: Creating a Vision for Your Township (B-103; 4 credits) Identifying core community values and expectations is a critical component in serving your community. Gain insight into how this powerful tool can assist in evaluating township programs and services, including the need for innovation and change. By examining both adversity and opportunities, we'll discuss how to balance short-term issues with a long-term vision. Linking With the Community (B-106; 4 credits) Enhancing credibility in the public eye begins with your township board. Examine ways of being more open and transparent to the community-a valuable exercise to increase trust at the local level. Explore ways of determining what your constituents want and how to keep them informed about your township's activities, including a discussion on cultivating emerging leaders in your community.
