New database and mapping system helps land use planning
Just how much land in Michigan is protected for conservation and recreational purposes?
In an attempt to answer this question, Ducks Unlimited and The Nature Conservancy have been collecting data for nearly three years from federal, state, and local agencies, plus more than 40 land trusts in the state, to compile and analyze land use information in a mapping format.
Now the information on Conservation and Recreational Lands (CARL) database can be viewed here, on The Nature Conservancy Web site.
