Township Web Site Development

Township Web Site Development
One of MTA’s missions is to keep Michigan’s township governments on the cutting edge of technology issues.

With an increasingly tech-savvy population, local government citizens are demanding more online, easily accessible information. Townships are producing complex Web sites that provide one-stop citizen access to a myriad of resources. Users can view and download copies of ordinances, pay taxes and utility bills online, use databases to look up parcel information, and apply for and receive building permits—all over the Internet.

Because citizens want access to their local governments over the Internet, more and more townships are looking for Web site solutions to enhance community communications and information.

The MTA hopes that information provided here and through these links will help townships make more informed decisions when providing citizen access to your township information through the use of Web site publishing.

MTA Partners With LIAA to Offer Townships Web Sites
The MTA is pleased to announce a new solution for township government Web-publishing needs. MTA has partnered with the Land Information Access Association (LIAA) to offer member townships powerful, new Web sites designed to improve service delivery, increase public access to township information, and support greater citizen participation in township government decisions.

The partnership, Technology for Civic Engagement, is part of the “MTA Technology Deployment Project” that was recently created to address township government technology needs.

Community Center™ software was developed by LIAA to provide a broad range of tools to help local governments:
  • keep citizens informed with news and detailed, easy-to-update calendars;
  • maintain and provide access to online documents including minutes, ordinance and community information;
    gather citizen input through simple polling questions and surveys;
  • create and maintain online forms and permits;
    accept payments online;
  • provide access to interactive maps of local information;
  • support interactive discussions on issues of local concern; and much more.

    The Community Center™ Web site development service costs $2,250. This special rate includes set-up and design, basic content information, township maps, eight hours of staff training, a domain name, and a full year of Web site hosting.
