Annual Meeting notice

Official Notice

To All MTA-Member Elected Officials:

In accordance with the provisions of Sections A and H of Article IV of the Michigan Townships Association Bylaws, let this serve as official notice that an Educational Conference, Expo and Annual Meeting of the Association will occur March 31-April 3, 2025, at the Amway Grand Plaza and DeVos Place in Grand Rapids.

Several educational programs will be offered prior to the Conference on Monday, March 31, including a morning Assessors Renewal Course: Assessing Uniqueness and all-day workshops on Board Authorities, Roles and Responsibilities and Townships Finances. The MTA Legal Institute for Township Attorneys will also be conducted on Monday, as well as an evening social event.

On Tuesday, April 1 and Wednesday, April 2 more than 50 educational workshops will be held, along with a 100-booth MTA Expo. Evening social events also occur both Tuesday and Wednesday, along with the MTA Banquet.

Pursuant to MTA Bylaws, from 8:15 to 8:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 2, caucuses of elected township officials from member townships in 20 MTA districts will convene to elect a new director to the MTA Board. You can find MTA district information and caucus room locations here.

The MTA Annual Meeting will be conducted on Thursday, April 3 at 9 a.m. in the Ballroom at DeVos Place to elect the Association’s 2025 officers (president, two vice presidents, treasurer and secretary), to adopt legislative policies (see Policy Platform Process and Special Rules of Procedure here), and other business including reports from officers and standing committees, along with additional matters as shall be properly brought forth before the delegates, including the right of rejection of bylaw amendments adopted by the MTA Board of Directors (see February issue of Michigan Township Focus magazine).

All MTA members are encouraged to attend the MTA Annual Educational Conference & Expo, as well as the Annual Meeting.
