Not a member of MTA?

To register online, your township must be an active MTA member. City or village officials or individuals from non-member townships may still attend MTA training, but must register using the non-member form found here, and must submit payment with your registration form. (Online registration is not available for non-members.)

Forms received without payment will not be processed. If an email address is provided, a confirmation email will be sent upon registering with additional information and details specific to your date/location. For further assistance, call 517-492-9227.

Key details for MTA’s online PA 660 Required Board of Review Training classes

To earn credit at an in-person event, simply register then attend the class that works best for you. Be sure to register for the PA 660 Required class; MTA’s Advanced Board of Review Training does not qualify to meet STC requirements and no certificates will be issued to Advanced course attendees.

  • Be sure to arrive on time and stay until the end–you must sign in and out on the paper form that will be provided during class in order to receive your certificate.
  • Upon receiving your certificate, be sure to send a copy to your assessor and/or township supervisor. We recommend taking a photo and sending it as an attachment right away, just in case the original is misplaced.

To earn credit for attending the PA 660 Required class in the online format, specific STC protocols must be met. Here are key details for all online participants:

  • A confirmation including the Zoom link and handouts for this class will be sent via email to all registered participants with an email on file, about a week prior to the session you registered for; please check your junk/spam folders if you don’t see it in your inbox. A reminder will be emailed again the day prior to the class. Need to update your email address? Contact MTA at 517-321-6467 or email database@michigantownships.org.
  • Individuals must have their computer camera on AND remain visible for the duration of the class to receive a certificate. We recommend updating Zoom to the newest version the day prior to your scheduled class, then run a Zoom test meeting to ensure your camera and audio are fully functional.
  • Those watching as a group must:
      1. Enter the names of every participant in the contact info form when signing in to Zoom. Each individual MUST be registered with MTA to receive credit for attending.
      2. Complete the required group attendance form to sign in and out of class.
      3. Ensure the attendance form is signed by the elected official or assessor verifying the attendance and participation of the group. The form will NOT be accepted without a valid signature.
      4. Immediately following class, send the completed form to education@michigantownships.org. This must be returned to MTA within one (1) week of the class.
  • Whether you attend individually or as a group, you must complete the required quiz to receive credit for the class. A link will be posted in the “Chat” during class and emailed to you after class. One quiz may be completed for groups watching together; please complete the quiz using the same name/township and email address used for your group Zoom login.
  • Certificates will be emailed to the address on file for each participant. (For groups, all certificates will be sent to the email used to login to Zoom.)
  • Links to handout materials will be sent in your confirmation email about one (1) week in advance, and will also be posted in the Zoom Chat during the class. PLEASE NOTE: All course materials are proprietary and may not be further distributed without prior written consent from the Michigan Department of Treasury.

For troubleshooting login issues the day of the event, or for other assistance, contact MTA at 517-321-6467.

Please note that phone lines may be very busy the day of each online event; we strongly suggest you update Zoom AND run a test several days ahead of time on the computer you plan to use, and ensure you can access the link from that device, to reduce the likelihood of issues the day of the training.
