Bear Creek Township clerk to serve on Michigan Townships Association Board of Directors

Emma Radatovich, Bear Creek Township (Emmet Co.) clerk, has been elected to serve on the Michigan Townships Association (MTA) Board of Directors as director of MTA 5 District, which encompasses Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet Counties. Radatovich, who was elected to the position by her peers at a caucus election held at the Association’s Annual Conference earlier this month, fills the role following long-time Burt Township (Cheboygan Co.) Supervisor Harold Koviak’s election as 2025 MTA president.

Radatovich has been township clerk since 2019, also serving on the township planning commission since that time. She is president of the Emmet County MTA Chapter and was chapter vice president from 2023-2025. Radatovich has also been a Eucharistic minister at St. Francis Xavier parish since fall 2024.

In addition to helping the township plan, prepare and improve for the future, Radatovich says that educating residents about the elections process has been among her most rewarding experiences in local government. “I hope to bring voters greater confidence and trust in the system,” she said.

Just as she is honored to serve her community, Radatovich is also honored to serve officials in her MTA district, and all townships, on the MTA Board. “I am looking forward to using this opportunity to be a voice in Lansing for rural northern Michigan, providing greater resources and support to township officials and residents alike,” she said. “As an upcoming local leader, I hope to bring forward common sense solutions to support our small-town communities, while inspiring other young people to get involved in local government!”
