MTA: Revenue Sharing Trust Fund is ‘critical tool benefiting all communities across the state’

The following statement on the Senate passage of Senate Bills 559, 561 and 912 to create and provide for distribution of a Revenue Sharing Trust Fund can be attributed to Michigan Townships Association (MTA) Executive Director Tom Hickson.

Establishing a revenue sharing trust fund is a top priority for the Michigan Townships Association and for Michigan’s townships, which deliver essential local services every day to their residents, businesses and the broader community. Local governments need stable, sustainable funding to invest in their communities, strengthen quality public safety, maintain infrastructure, plan effectively and create vibrant quality of life where residents want to live and local economies can thrive. We thank all 37 senators for their unanimous support on this important legislation, including bill sponsors Sens. Moss, Cherry and Klinefelt for their leadership in advancing this critical tool benefiting all communities across the state.
