Cargill elected first vice president of Michigan Townships Association

Golden Township (Oceana Co.) Treasurer Connie Cargill has been elected first vice president of the Michigan Townships Association (MTA). She was elected to the position helping to lead the state’s largest municipal association by her peers at MTA’s 2023 Annual Educational Conference, held April 17-20 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme Township.

Cargill, who has served as township treasurer since 1995, was first elected to the MTA Board of Directors in 2012. She is also director of MTA District 11, which encompasses Lake, Mason and Oceana Counties.

“I am truly honored to continue representing township officials as MTA first vice president,” Cargill said. “I love serving others, whether it’s my local residents or township officials throughout the state. It’s a responsibility I don’t take lightly.”

Cargill previously served as a deputy treasurer and is retired from the Oceana County Drain Office. She is currently a member of the Oceana County Land Bank Authority Board, and treasurer of the Oceana County MTA Chapter. Cargill is also a board member of the Oceana Agricultural Society and light horse superintendent for the Oceana County Fair.
