Clerk-Election Assistant

Empire Township (Leelanau Co.) is hiring a Clerk-Election Assistant. The Clerk-Election Assistant assists with clerk duties, as delegated by the Empire Township Clerk,  with a focus on election duties. Previous experience as a township clerk and/or election assistant is desired, including Michigan Qualified Voter File (QVF) experience. Residency in Empire Township is not required, but residency in Michigan is. Some duties may be performed remotely, and some duties must be performed on-site at the township office. This is a part-time, hourly position of approximately 10 hours/week through November, 2026, with the possibility of continuation past November, subject to clerk and township board approval. Rate of pay is $25/hour.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist the Township Clerk with clerk duties as delegated, with a focus on election duties that include assistance with election administration, QVF management, election commission responsibilities,  election staffing,  training, equipment operations, voter questions, ballot processing, and other duties.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Prior experience as a township clerk and/or election assistant, including QVF experience, is desired. Current QVF training/certification, or willingness to renew QVF training/certification, is required.
