The Finance Manager oversees the accounting and financial operations of People’s Express and Whitmore Lake Area Human Services, ensuring responsible stewardship of organizational resources. This role supports transportation services through budgeting, accounting, grant compliance, financial reporting, and audit coordination. The Finance Manager works closely with executive leadership, program managers, auditors, and funding agencies. This is primarily an in-office position with occasional remote work permitted.
Some key responsibilities
- Lead the annual budget and forecasting process.
- Prepare and present monthly and quarterly financial statements and analysis for executive leadership and the Board.
- Monitor cash flow, funding utilization, and compliance with grant and funding requirements.
- Support funding diversification while maintaining appropriate liquidity and reserve levels.
- Supervise accounting staff and oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and payroll entries.
- Coordinate annual financial statement audits and Single Audits.
Qualifications include
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; CPA, CPA eligibility, or an advanced degree preferred.
- Five or more years of progressively responsible accounting or financial management experience, preferably in a nonprofit or government organization, including experience supervising accounting staff.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit fund accounting, GAAP, and QuickBooks, with experience in general ledger management, financial reporting, and grant tracking.
- Experience administering federal, state, and local government grants and contracts, including allowable costs, funding restrictions, and multi-funding reporting.
Salary range for this role is $80,000 – $90,000/year.
