Harold Koviak, supervisor of Burt Township (Cheboygan Co.), has been elected 2025 president of the Michigan Townships Association (MTA). Koviak was elected president of the state’s largest municipal association at MTA’s Annual Educational Conference & Expo, held March 31-April 3 in Grand Rapids.
Koviak, who has served as township supervisor since 2002, was first elected to the MTA Board of Directors in 2013. Prior to becoming MTA president, he served as director of MTA District 5, which encompasses Charlevoix, Cheboygan and Emmet Counties. Koviak began his career in township government as a zoning administrator, where he served for eight years before being elected township trustee. He served in that position for two years until he was elected supervisor.
Joining Koviak on the MTA Executive Committee are: Kevin Beeson, Pine River Township (Gratiot Co.) supervisor, as first vice president; Malinda Cole-Crocker, Buchanan Charter Township (Berrien Co.) supervisor, as second vice president; Marvin Radtke Jr., Green Lake Township (Grand Traverse Co.) supervisor, as treasurer; Glenn Rowley, Bangor Charter Township (Bay Co.) supervisor, as secretary; Connie Cargill, Golden Township (Oceana Co.) treasurer, as immediate past president; and Matt Beattie, Boon Township (Wexford Co.) supervisor, as member-at-large.
The MTA Executive Committee, along with the entire MTA Board of Directors, meets numerous times throughout the year, and adopts strategic policies that guide the Association’s operations to best serve Michigan’s 1,240 townships.
