Nankervis re-elected to Michigan Townships Association Board of Directors

Ishpeming Township (Marquette Co.) Supervisor James Nankervis will continue to serve on the Michigan Townships Association (MTA) Board of Directors, after being re-elected MTA District 2 director in a caucus election during the MTA Annual Conference & Expo, held April 25-28 in Lansing. District 2 encompasses Baraga, Dickinson, Marquette and Iron Counties.

“It is my honor to continue serving my fellow township officials on the MTA Board of Directors,” Nankervis said. “I will lend my expertise in the areas where I have experience.”

A long-time supervisor, Nankervis began serving his township in this position in 1988. He got his start in local government on the planning commission, a position he held from 1975 to 1982, before serving on the sewer authority from 1982 to 1988. He is currently president of the Marquette County MTA Chapter, and was previously the chapter vice president.

Nankervis is chair of the Marquette County Transit Authority Board of Directors and of the county Building Code Board of Appeals. Nankervis is a past “Volunteer of the Year” recipient for Teaching Family Homes, a non-profit organization providing a continuum of services to children and families in need. He was also involved with the Bay Cliff Health Camp for 15 years.
