Green Lake Township (Grand Traverse Co.) Supervisor Marvin Radtke Jr. has been elected 2024 secretary of the Michigan Townships Association (MTA). He was elected to the position by his township peers at MTA’s 2024 Annual Educational Conference & Expo, held April 22-25 at the Grand Traverse Resort in Acme Township.
Radtke also serves as director of MTA District 8, which includes Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Manistee Counties. He first joined the MTA Board in 2017 and says he will continue to use his MTA leadership role to advocate for economic success and resources for Michigan’s communities. “An interest in continuing well-planned social and economic sustenance and development for the community, region and state is one of my goals,” he said.
Radtke has more than three decades of experience in local government. In his first elected position, he served as a Green Lake Township trustee from 2000 until 2016, when he was elected supervisor. He also served as a zoning and planning administrator from 1992 to 2016.
He is a member on the Grand Traverse County Brownfield Redevelopment Board, and has served on the county Land Development Review, Planning Commission and Board of Public Works. Over the years, he’s been recognized for his efforts, with awards including the State of Michigan Special Tribute in 2005 and 2006 and the Frank Purius Stewardship Award in 2004. He was a finalist for the National Association of Towns and Townships’ Grassroots Government Leadership Award in 2005.
