Marvin Radtke Jr. elected treasurer of Michigan Townships Association

Green Lake Township (Grand Traverse Co.) Supervisor Marvin Radtke Jr. has been elected 2025 treasurer of the Michigan Townships Association (MTA). He was elected to the position by his township peers at a caucus election during MTA’s 2025 Annual Educational Conference & Expo, held earlier this month in Grand Rapids. In this role, Radtke serves on the Association’s executive committee, which—along with the entire board of directors—provides strategic and operational guidance to MTA, which serves more than 99% of Michigan’s townships and is the state’s largest municipal organization.

Radtke also serves as director of MTA District 8, which includes Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau and Manistee Counties. He first joined the MTA Board in 2017 and says he will continue to use his MTA leadership role to advocate for impactful growth, connection and change for Michigan’s communities—as he does for his own.

“I am deeply committed to ensuring our community thrives, working collaboratively with residents to enhance local services, foster growth and make meaningful change,” he said. “My involvement in local government and with MTA is not just about governance, but about listening, responding and acting in the best interests of everyone who calls this place home. During my tenure, I hope to build on the progress we’ve made and focus on sustainable, community-driven solutions that leave a lasting, positive impact for future generations.”

Radtke has more than three decades of experience in local government. In his first elected position, he served as a Green Lake Township trustee from 2000 until 2016, when he was elected supervisor. He has been the township zoning and planning administrator since 1992, and was village administrator from 2015-2016.

He is a member on the Grand Traverse County Brownfield Redevelopment Board and Grand Traverse County Land Bank Authority, and has served on the county Land Development Review, Planning Commission and Board of Public Works. Over the years, Radtke has been recognized for his efforts, including as the 2023 Public Service/Public Office Environmental of the Year from the Northern Michigan Environmental Action Council, State of Michigan Special Tributes in 2005 and 2006, and the Frank Purius Stewardship Award in 2004, among others.
