Glenn Rowley elected 2025 Michigan Townships Association secretary

Bangor Charter Township (Bay Co.) Supervisor Glenn Rowley has been elected 2025 secretary of the Michigan Townships Association (MTA). In this role, Rowley serves on the Association’s executive committee, which—along with the entire board of directors—provides strategic and operational guidance to MTA, which serves more than 99% of Michigan’s townships and is the state’s largest municipal organization.

Rowley, who has been supervisor since 2016, serves on the MTA Board as its director of MTA District 13, which encompasses Bay, Gladwin and Midland Counties. He has been president of the Bay County MTA Chapter since 2022 and was chapter vice president from 2018-2022. Rowley previously also served on the township zoning board of appeals.

As part of the government closest to the people, Rowley takes great pride in working to solve local issues, as well as promoting beautiful Bangor Charter Township as often as he can. He takes equal pride in his role serving his township and its residents, and all Michigan’s townships on the MTA Board. “I am, and will continue to be, a leader for all of the people,” he said. “I work for Democrats and Republicans alike, and everyone in between. I want to inspire other elected leaders to put aside the partisan phooey and focus on being a public servant—instead of a politician. We took an oath to represent our people, not political parties.”

Rowley achieved the designation of certified public manager through Saginaw Valley State University (SVSU) in 2023 and was selected to the 2024 Cohort Class at the SVSU Henry Marsh Institute for Public Policy. In addition, he is treasurer of Bay County Landbank Authority, president of Bay County Township Officers Association and secretary to its roads committee. He serves on the board of the township downtown development authority and Bay Future, and is vice chair of Bay Area Water Transmission System, treasurer of Bay Area Storm Water Authority, and vice chair of Bay City Area Transportation Study Commission.
