Raisin Charter Township supervisor re-elected to Michigan Townships Association Board of Directors

Tom Hawkins, Raisin Charter Township (Lenawee Co.) supervisor, has been re-elected to the Michigan Townships Association (MTA) Board of Directors. Hawkins was re-elected as MTA District 24 Director— which encompasses Hillsdale, Jackson and Lenawee Counties—by his peers at a caucus election at MTA’s 2025 Annual Educational Conference, held March 31-April 3 in Grand Rapids.

Hawkins says that developing relationships with those who serve their community is among his most rewarding experience in township government—and he will continue to bring that sense of community to his service on MTA’s Board. “It is a privilege for me to serve the residents of Raisin Charter Township, and my goal on the MTA Board is to serve together to strengthen the MTA’s ability to equip township officials to do the best job possible for their residents,” he said. “My hope is that, through MTA, I will be able to be more equipped to do a better job each day for the residents.”

Hawkins, who previously served two terms as township trustee, was elected supervisor in 2020. He is a 2016 graduate of MTA’s Township Governance Academy, a credential program that aims to allow township officials to bring heightened leadership and guidance to their community. With deep ties to the community and to public service, he serves as a board member of God’s Bread Basket, We Care Food Pantry and Community Action Agency, and is a previous board member of Tecumseh Kiwanis.
