Sharon Schultz re-elected to Michigan Townships Association Board of Directors

Torch Lake Township (Antrim Co.) Treasurer Sharon Schultz has been re-elected to her role on the Michigan Townships Association (MTA) Board of Directors. Schultz, who first joined the MTA Board in 2017, will continue to serve as director of MTA District 6, which encompasses Antrim, Crawford, Kalkaska and Otsego Counties, following her re-election to the position at MTA’s Annual Conference, held April 25-28 in Lansing.

During her continued service helping to lead the state’s largest municipal organization, she will continue to learn from and network with her fellow board members, while also adjusting to the challenges of legislative policies and listening to the concerns and needs of officials in her district.

“I’ve served with many different board members through my years as treasurer for Torch Lake Township, bringing both happiness and challenges with them all,” Schultz said. “I feel humbled to remain in my role with MTA and pledge to continue to share the same with this board.”

Schultz got her start in local government working at the Antrim County treasurer’s office in 1997. She was elected township treasurer in 2000 and continued in her county position until she retired in 2015. She is also a Michigan certified assessing officer. She has served the Antrim County MTA Chapter in several positions.

Schultz has served the emergency medical services field for more than 30 years, with 16 years as a volunteer emergency medical technician (EMT) for the Torch Bay Ambulance and 15 years as a Torch Lake Township EMT. She later received a plaque recognizing her for her years of service. Additionally, she works with Antrim County Victim Services, volunteers with the Antrim County Sheriff’s Department Victims Services Unit and the Antrim County Petoskey Stone Festival, and is a member of the Upper Chain of Lakes Ladies Club.
