Somerset Township supervisor appointed to Michigan Townships Association Board of Directors

Somerset Township (Hillsdale Co.) Supervisor Tim Shaw has been appointed to the Michigan Townships Association (MTA) Board of Directors, as director of MTA District 24, which encompasses Jackson, Lenawee and Hillsdale Counties. Serving Michigan’s 1,240 townships, MTA is the largest municipal association in the state and one of the largest in the nation.

The MTA Board plays a pivotal role in helping to guide the Association in serving, safeguarding and strengthening Michigan township government, and Shaw looks forward to “keeping townships’ interests moving forward,” he said of his new leadership role. “Local control is vital to protect. I believe in what MTA stands for, and the accomplishments that I have seen in recent years.”

Shaw has been township supervisor for a decade. He served as chief of Addison Fire & EMS, in Addison Township (Oakland Co.) for 30 years, and was also a school board member for 10 years. Those experiences will assist in Shaw’s contributions to the statewide organization. “Schools and public safety are two of the most important parts of our lives. With my background in public service, I will be able to share insights on key topics in this area.”
