Treasury updates Public Safety Revenue Sharing FAQs

For townships receiving Public Safety Revenue Sharing grants, the state Department of Treasury released updated guidance through their Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) for the grant program. The grants were authorized in both the state’s fiscal year 2026 and 2027 budget to assist townships, cities, villages and counties reduce violent crimes in communities across the state. Distributions to townships, cities and villages are based on each local unit’s share of violent crime counts as certified by the Michigan Department of State Police. For townships, cities and villages, the FY 2026 payments were received in May 2026.
