Cargill elected second vice president of Michigan Townships Association

Golden Township (Oceana Co.) Treasurer Connie Cargill has been elected second vice president of the Michigan Townships Association (MTA). She was elected to the position helping to lead the state’s largest municipal association by her peers at MTA’s 2022 Annual Educational Conference, held April 25-28 in Lansing.

Cargill, who has served as township treasurer since 1995, was first elected to the MTA Board of Directors in 2012. She is also director of MTA District 11, which encompasses Lake, Mason and Oceana Counties.

“I am truly honored to serve as MTA second vice president,” Cargill said. “I strive to serve not only Golden Township and MTA’s District 11, but all township officials throughout the state. Townships are truly the voice of the people, and it is so important to support local control. MTA is ‘neighbors serving neighbors.’ ”

Cargill previously served as a deputy treasurer and is retired from the Oceana County Drain Office. She is currently a member of the Oceana County Land Bank Authority Board, and treasurer of the Oceana County MTA Chapter. Cargill is also a board member of the Oceana Agricultural Society and light horse superintendent for the Oceana County Fair.
